Halloweentown and the whole Disney movie series are arguably some of the best Halloween classics. Millions of people watch it every year and dream about the day our mysterious grandmother shows and tells us we are actually a witch/warlock.
Being a 90's movie, and on Disney Channel, it teaches us a lot of important lessons besides not letting mortals see the midnight portal to Halloweentown.
1. Family > Everything
A constant theme throughout every single movie in this series is that nothing matters more than family. Sure you argue a lot, maybe not over supernatural forces like in the movie, but other important things. Through thick and thin your family will be the ones you can rely on, even when you think you can't. Don't take them/that for granted.
2. Tolerance
No one had time for the well they look/think/act different than us so lets be mean and exclude them crap. This movie hit a home run with this idea. Everyone is different, and absolutely no one should be mistreated. Today's society could take a page from this magical movie on how to come together.
3. Be yourself
No one wants to be themselves anymore. People want to follow the crowd and blend it, which is boring! In Halloweentown, Marnie is so straight forward with how much she loves creepy Halloween stuff. No one can bum her out, and she is so unapologetically witchy. Be who you are or who you want to be, and don't let anyone stop you.
4. Fight for what's right
Marnie and Grandma Aggie got zapped with a spell that froze them, but did that stop them? NO! So you better have a damn good reason why you aren't standing up for what is right, or what you believe in. Yeah, it may not be fun, or make you a lot of friends depending on the issue, but if it's important then who cares?
5. Careful who you trust
NEVER TRUST THE GUY THAT BRINGS A DEAD ROSE TO LIFE! Not everyone is meant to be in your life, so be careful who you open up to. It's better to be skeptic than to be heartbroken.
