My dog Socrates is as wise as his name implies. He is my running partner, my buddy and I don’t even mind when he insists on sleeping between me and the wall and then pushes away from the wall to get the bigger half of the bed. Socrates teaches me as much as I have ever taught him, but here are five of the most important lessons I have learned by watching him:

1. When you see someone you know, let them know you are happy to see them

2. A good handshake can really impress people

3. Playing catch with a friend is fun

4. Relax and don’t let the little things bother you

5. At the end of the day, a bath can be just what you need

Maybe this post will teach you that your dog has more to offer than just eating your scraps from the table!

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
