Midterms are in full swing. With all the high tensions going around, I thought this would be the perfect time to think about what college has taught me so far.
1. Never give up
There will be times when you may stumble - or even fall - in college. But it is important to remember that life is about making mistakes. Things may not always go according to plan, but that does not mean things will not work out. Instead, when you fall dust yourself and try harder. Just because you may take longer to achieve your goals, but that does not make it any less of an achievement.
2. Go on Adventures
College os full of opportunities and experiences that you may not ever be able to get again. Take the time to explore the world. That can mean traveling, participating in clubs and events on campus, or even exploring your city.
3. Take care of yourself
College can be super stressful. With exams and internships, there is a lot to do and it often seems like there is not enough time. Taking care of yourself - both physically and mentally - is very important. Take the time to nourish your body and release stress.
4. Stay connected
With all the things college has to offer, it is easy to be overwhelmed. Remember to stay connected with family and friends - both new and old. This will keep you grounded and help you when you need advice.
5. Take chances
This is a time in your life when you are learning about yourself and the world around you. This is the perfect time to take chances. Try something new like taking a class that has nothing to do with your major or try something you never tried before. You will never know where it may lead. Because like Mark Twain said, “never let school get in the way of your education”.
College is more than just getting good grades and finding a job or going to grad school after. It is about learning that there is a whole world out there and you just need to reach out and grab it. So reach!
