The Lakers organization throughout the history of basketball had some of the best basketball players to have ever played the game. With these many legends its hard to have them ranked since they accomplished so much but in my opinion, these guys certainly are ranked among the top five.
5. Jerry West.
When the NBA decided to have you as the logo of their association that's pretty much a sign that you've done great things in the game. Jerry West or "The Logo" was a 14x NBA All-Star, played in 9 NBA Finals, winning in 1972, and remains the only player in NBA history to be named Finals MVP despite being on the losing team in 1969. Traditionally the winning team's best player is given the Finals MVP but for Jerry West despite losing the championship round won the award. A true testament to his amazing skills.
4. Wilt Chamberlain.
"Records are meant to be broken." Terry Vaughn stated and the same could be said for NBA records but Wilt Chamberlain certainly makes it tough for today's players. According to the NBA Encyclopedia, He holds 72 records with 68 as a personal achievement. His most well-known one would be his record of scoring 100 points in a single game something no one has ever done. The closest NBAplayer to reach 100 scored 81 points.
3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
This man while he didn't score 100 points like Wilt, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in NBA history so far. He along with Magic and James Worthy led the Los Angeles Lakers to five championships. His trademark "sky hook" was remained devastating to many opposing teams. His seven foot two stature along with his long wingspan made that hook almost unstoppable.
2. Kobe Bryant.
Considered by many as the closest thing to Micheal Jordan, the "Black Mamba" Kobe Bryant was an 18-time All-Star, a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, and 12-time member of the All-Defensive team. He has led the league in scoring twice, ranks third on both the league’s all-time regular season scoring and all-time postseason scoring lists, and holds almost every single Laker individual scoring record. His competitive nature to win no matter what has made Laker fans adore him at home and other team fans hate him when he plays at their house. He also scored 81 points in a game. Making him the closest player to reach Chamberlain record.
1. Earvin Johnson.
Also known as "Magic'' Johnson Johnson played point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. Magic Johnson was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft and won a championship and a Finals Most Valuable Player Award in his rookie season. He along with Kareem and Worthy started the legendary "Showtime" Era for the Lakers. His time and rivalry with Celtic Legend Larry Bird has paved the way for a new era of basketball and it skyrocketed a once a certain Bull player wearing the 23 entered the league. He is now head of the Lakers Basetball operations and is trying to lead the Lakers to glory once again through the office.
Unfortunately these past few years the Los Angeles Lakers have been mediocre at best however in this year, rookies like Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma along with sophomore Brandon Ingram have started to make the Lakers well known. Hopefully for Laker fans this is just a sign of good things to come.
