I am not normally one to procrastinate constantly, but after a busy semester and having two final exams, a 10 page research paper, and a 6-8 page paper, keeping on task is no easy feat. Here are five ways I managed to procrastinate during finals week after being holed up in the library for hours on end.
1. Memorized rap songs
Kendrick Lamar's "HUMBLE" is a jam, which is why my roommate and I stayed up for an extra hour one night during reading days to memorize all the lyrics, when we really should have started studying for our oceanography exam. Oh well. At least we can belt out all the words now as a stress reliever.
2. Set up Microsoft Word on my laptop
Since I've been putting this off all year (thank you, Google Docs!), why not procrastinate on studying by installing software I've procrastinated on obtaining?
3. Talking walks to call people
This is really just code for complaining to my parents about finals over the phone. But taking a walk in the woods while people are studying like crazy in the library isn't bothering anyone, and it's a great stress reliever.
4. Watched a few odd videos on YouTube
YouTube is a dangerous website, thanks in part to the "up next" feature and the fact that videos in general are just a great way to pass obscene amounts of time. Fake music videos, Waka Flocka doing background vocals, and odd mistakes made by news anchors on local TV stations are excellent ways to laugh and pass the time.
5. Thought about future plans
Why work on finishing one semester on a strong note when you can look at your major requirements for the umpteenth time or look at courses you can take over the summer??
