1. Read a book

Reading is so underrated and honestly it's awesome. Getting lost in a good book is like escaping from reality and jumping into a new world. Plus it's actually enjoyable believe it or not when you genuinely enjoy the book. Whether it's historical fiction, fantasy or a dictionary, so just up a book and snuggle into a blanket while you read because it's better than watching The View all day.

2. Bake

Having the oven on will not only give off a crazy good aroma in your home, but it will also keep the kitchen warm. Bake some cookies and brownies from the box or go super ambitious and find some Buzzfeed videos on how to make elaborate desserts from scratch. And never feel like you've baked too much, wrap up extra batches for your friends and family to let them know you love them. You can also invite your friends or boy/girlfriend over to keep you company and help while you make some sweet treats during this frigid winter!

3. Go through all your junk

Trust me, this can take hours from all the clutter you've accumulated over the years and you will end up finding precious mementos that you will spend time reminiscing on. You know in the back of your mind you have to do it at some point, so what better day then being stuck inside all day from the below zero weather! Who knows, you might find some missing items or old pictures that you were looking for, you'd be surprised how many memories can fit into a tiny closet.

4. Surf the web

If you're glued to your computer, then use that to your advantage when you just can't watch anymore Netflix (if that's even possible). When I'm bored, I use Pinterest, Tumblr and StumbleUpon (a website that takes you to other websites based off your interests) and I download music. You can do anything that you like on these sites, some of my favorites are finding new recipes for meals and for face/hair masks, sharing new memes and chatting with people who also enjoy these things. If you're with friends, the website omegle can make you laugh for hours.

5. Call or write people you haven't talked to in a while

Use this time indoors to call your parents, siblings, friends or anyone you haven't caught up with recently. Sure you could text, but nothing beats hearing a loved one's voice and having a real conversation with them, it shows them that you are taking the time out of your day to speak with them. Writing is also an option, write to people in different countries or to grandparents that have a tough time with technology or even take up a pen pal. Pen pals are perfect because it's like having a clean slate, you can tell them anything and if you have a good one, they'll give you good and honest advice. Also if you pick a foreign pen pal, you can get to know what like is like in another culture and area of the world, how cool!

So, instead of staring out the window, being so sad that winter has come quickly and harshly and wishing you could be outside in mid 70s weather, try these 5 fun things to do inside and comment other fun ideas for cold winter days!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
