5 Things I Hope To Do At Disney World

I'm almost there!

For the first time in forever, I'm visiting the famous Walt Disney World. I have been a die-hard Disney fan for as long as I can remember, so I know without a doubt I'm going to have the best time of my life. I cannot wait to be a kid again and see my favorite movies and characters come to life. I've done a lot of research, and have a mental list of what I want to do and what I hope for. I'm here to get that list off my chest. I will be writing a follow-up article after my trip to talk all about my time there. For now, here's what I am hoping for as I jump up and down in my seat impatiently waiting to pack for the plane.

1. Meet all the princesses.

That's right, I said it. My number one goal is to meet every single one of the princesses. This includes the classic ones like Cinderella, the Frozen duo, and even Moana and Elena. My favorite thing about Disney is the strong female leads in the movies and shows that have inspired me to be the person I am today. To meet all of them would be a big check off the bucket list.

2. Ride some teacups.

This ride is the first thing I think of every time I think of the park. They seem like such a classic trademark to me. I remember seeing kids ride them in the commercials on my Disney videotapes and thinking how cool it would be to ride one. Now that wish is coming true!

3. Ride Frozen Ever After.

Even in 2017, I am still a crazy Frozen fan. And this ride looks absolutely jaw-dropping. Let's hope I can talk my group into using one of our fast passes for this one!

4. See the garden festival

We will be attending the parks just in time to see the International Flower and Garden Festival. Our favorite Disney characters will be reimagined in beautiful bush and flower sculptures. As a floral and Disney lover, this is super duper exciting!

5. Be a kid again

There are a lot of other things I want to do at Disney world that would probably turn this article into a novel. However, at the same time, I am so new to this that I won't know what exactly I'm doing until I get there with a park guide! Overall, my main goal is to just enjoy myself and be a little kid again. I have had a tough year, so being able to take a week off from work and be surrounded by what I'm passionate about is seriously a huge blessing.

I want to give a special shoutout to my friends Blake and Sara, who surprised me with the gift of a ticket to Disney World since they knew how tough I've had it in the past year. I am so thankful and blessed that you guys have done this for me. There are honestly no words to express how grateful I am for you guys. This is so unreal. I hope we have the time of our lives and make some magical memories!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
