1. "Hey, person from high school I haven't talked to in three years."
Whether you're at the grocery store, the gym, or maybe even buying your Christmas tree, they will suddenly appear. Like a ghost from your past, you will see someone you went to high school with. You will have to have that mandatory, awkward small talk about what you've been up to the past few years. Good luck.
2. Pet reunion.
Your dog definitely missed you as much as you missed him, I promise.
3. Family reunion.
Like it or not, the holidays typically bring everyone together. So even if you're not the most excited to see certain family members at the dinner table this year, try and be grateful for their presence and the fact that you can return home and see everyone.
4. Food coma.
The holidays are for eating! Christmas cookies, cakes, pies. Ham. Mac n cheese. It's just like Thanksgiving but perhaps on a smaller scale.
5. Missing your new home away from home.
Being back in your hometown for the holidays can easily cure some of the homesickness you may have been feeling throughout the year. But eventually at one point or another, you will miss your home away from home. But you will be back in no time, so for now? Just enjoy the holiday season while it lasts.
