Traveling in general is a very stressful task. You have to keep track of your bags, get through security, always know where you plane ticket is and be comfortable being launched thousands of feet up in the air with complete strangers. It's a lot to do in the time span of a day.
"What's better than traveling?" you may ask. Traveling during the holidays. The holiday cheer is obviously not spread to airports and TSA seems more annoyed than ever, people are late or missing departures more than ever and everyone collectively hate each other in the airport. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
While traveling during the holiday season can be a nearly impossible task here are five tips to keep in mind while you embark on your journey to see friends or home this season.
1. Make of list
Write down a list of everything that you can't live without if you forget at home. Your computer? Computer charger? Those amazing boots you can't live without? Make a list and tape it in front of your door so that you can't leave without looking at it.
2. Check in
Checking in on your phone makes it so that the airline won't give away your seat if you happen to be late, which is great.
3. Make a plan
Make a mental plan of where you're going to put your belongings before you go through security. So that when you have to put your items through security you have a plan. I normally, take my shoes off first, then I take my computer out of my backpack, then my computer charger, then any jacket I might be wearing and finally I take my backpack or any other carry on I might have.
4. Be nice to TSA
Holiday travel brings the worst out of people and TSA has to deal with much of that stress. So be nice to TSA even if they seem snippy or rude they're just trying to do their job.
5. Find your gate
Make sure you locate your gate even if you have plenty of time before your flight. It's a good idea to find your gate before you do anything else that way you know if your gate might have been changed or delayed.
Hopefully now that you know some of these tips, you might be less stressed while traveling this holiday season.
