I'm huge into snacking. The time between meals is simply too long to not eat anything. Since I've started to eat better, it's been a real challenge to cut down on snacking. However, with these healthier snack options, there's no need to cut down on snacking, just a need to change up what I'm snacking on. So, here are my go-to healthy snacking options.
1.) Apples and yogurt (90 cals)
I work as a waitress at Applebee's and oftentimes I get hungry while at work. They offer a side of a cut-up granny smith apple and a 3 oz cup of vanilla yogurt to dip the slices in. This is a delicious and extremely low calorie, yet still magically filling snack.
2.) Greek yogurt (80 cals)
As a vegetarian, I sometimes struggle with meeting my protein needs each day. Light and Fit greek yogurt has 12 grams of protein, and also manages to be extremely filling. There are multiple types of delicious flavors such as chocolate raspberry, chocolate cherry, toasted coconut, key lime pie, strawberry, and blueberry.
3.) Skinny Pop Popcorn (100 cals)
Skinny Pop popcorn comes in very convenient single-serve bags that are surprisingly large for the number of calories they are. The popcorn is lightly salted and delicious. It's the perfect afternoon snack while you're watching Netflix or a movie on a lazy day.
4.) A cup or half-cup of cereal (1 cup is 127 cals)
I personally prefer the Vanilla Almond Special K cereal. It tastes like more adult frosted flakes with thinly sliced almonds mixed in. It's a great snack to grab if you have the munchies. Honey Nut Cheerios are also the same number of calories, and are also really tasty. For a few more calories (10 more per cup) there is also a Protein Special K cereal.
5.) Pretzels (100 cals)
Pretzels are the perfect alternative to chips. They still satisfy the salty craving you may have, but they're nowhere near as many calories as an individual bag of chips. There are a surprising number of pretzels in the small bag, and you can buy them in stick shape or mini size.
Happy snacking!
