It's Halloween, and there's nothing better than a good ghost story. Pennsylvania alone is one of the most haunted states in America because there is so much history here. No matter where you are in Pennsylvania, you are probably close to a haunted landmark. In this article, we will talk about some of the most haunted places in Pennsylvania.

1. Fort Mifflin

Fort Mifflin is known as one of the most haunted places in the United States. It's located in Philadelphia, it was captured by the British during the Revolutionary War, and there are dozens of ghosts that haunt this historic landmark. There are several known ghosts, such as the "Screaming Woman" and the "Tour Guide" who gives tours to unknowing guests. There are also sightings of huge ships from the Revolutionary War. It's a very eerie place, and if you're brave enough, they offer haunted tours so you can see for yourself if it's truly haunted or not.

2. Pennhurst Asylum

Pennhurst Asylum, located in Spring City, was a live-in mental facility back in 1908. It wasn't until years later that people found out about the horrible mistreatment that went on here. Patients were left abandoned with no food or baths for days. They were abused and rotting in their own filth, so clearly, many people died here. It closed in 1987 when the Asylum was exposed for the horrible treatment. Today, it's still abandoned all year round, except during Halloween when there is a haunted house attraction. There have been witnesses of angry, tortured spirits, slamming doors, footsteps, and many other creepy instances. This is another place you can go to visit if you are brave enough.

3. Devil's Den

Devil's Den is a hill on the Gettysburg Battlefield. During the American Civil War, many soldiers died on this battlefield. Gettysburg has so much history, and there were a lot of ghost sightings. People have claimed to see the ghosts of soldiers roaming the fields as well as a woman who gives people directions. Overall, Gettysburg is a well-known haunted landmark. They do offer haunted walks on the battle grounds if you want to see the spirits for yourself.

4.Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the most famous haunted landmarks in America. It also has one of the best haunted house attractions in America as well. Located in Philadelphia, this place used to be a prison that held many famous prisoners, one being Al Capone. A lot of people died here in this prison. It opened back in 1829, and was abandoned by 1971. Ghost investigators have visited here and found countless ghosts and eerie occurrences. They offer day tours of the prison, but the real terror is during Halloween when they offer a haunted attraction in this scary, rundown prison. The actors might not be the only thing scaring you at this prison.

5. U.S. Hotel Tavern

Located in Holidaysburg in Central Pennsylvania, this hotel is known for its mysterious hauntings. Built in 1835, the U.S. Hotel was originally used to house travelers headed along the Pennsylvania Canal. After a successful run, the Hotel burned down in 1871. It was rebuilt in the 1990s, which is when the hauntings occurred. Noises such as laughter and footsteps were heard during the night. According to a construction worker who stayed at the hotel during the reconstruction, he was woken by a ghostly apparition of a woman dressed in a white gown hovering above the floor. A ghost investigation team investigated in the early 2000s, and what they found was horrifying. One of the group's investigators, Patty Wilson, had a panic attack and ran from an upstairs bedroom. When a few investigators went to take pictures of the bedroom, they saw a vision of an apparition. Patty describes the apparition as a young woman with long red hair. As soon as she appeared, she vanished into the darkness. This is just one of many instances that happened in this haunted hotel, so visit if you dare.

As you can see, Pennsylvania is an extremely haunted state. These are just a few of many haunted landmarks we have here in this ghostly state. You can visit them if you dare. ust watch your back, you never know who's following you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
