5 Harry Potter Theories That Could Be True

True or false? You decide...

The world in which we live is known as another word in another world that is not a place to some, but a real place to others, to those who have read and seen and have stuck with it to the very end. Our world is so mundane compared to that of this other world of which I speak. It may not be a physical place, but it certainly is a place in our hearts and minds. The world of which I speak is the world of Harry Potter. This list is the top 5 articles I think are what makes the headcanon of the Harry Potter series so interesting. Without further adieu, this is the top 5.

1. Crookshanks was Lily and James Potter's cat

Now this one is a fairly recent one, and though there are debates about the truthfulness, and Rowling herself has never confirmed nor denied this, it is certainly an interesting theory. "How so", you may ask? Well, as we see in the third book, Hermione says that he had been in there for "ages". Now, this can either mean one of two things: 1. Crookshanks has been in the Magical Menagerie since 1981 which was the year the Potter's were killed (save for Harry), or he simply had been in the Menagerie for some time, and is not related to the Potters home in Godric's Hollow whatsoever.

2. All 7 years of Harry's time at Hogwarts and on the run was nothing but a dream

Now this theory is a weird one to accept, however the theory itself says that all six years of Harry's magical education is nothing but a dream while he continually is abused and neglected by the dastardly Dursleys. Though this is a weird one, it could have totally been possible, but alas for us Potterheads, it was not, and we got rewarded with the series of a generation.

3. The Dursleys live with a Horcrux

Now this one is certainly far fetched, as it is not entirely possible. However, when Ron wears Slytherin's locket in the final book, he becomes a terrible person characteristically as he is much more headstrong than Harry or Hermione whilst on the run from the Death Eaters. While Harry did not wear a Horcrux at any point in time with the Dursleys, we find out later, Harry WAS a Horcrux, albeit unintended as Dumbledore explains in the later books. This would explain why the Dursley family was so horrible to Harry.

4. Hogwarts Students

This theory is based on the years of the first Wizarding War, which was the 1970s until 1981 when Harry "broke" Voldemort. The reason that Hogwarts has about a thousand students but Harry's year is abnormally small, no more than probably 24 or so students, is due to the fact that people were afraid of the Death Eaters and Voldemort, and therefore did not want to have a lot of, if any children.

5. Rowling is actually Rita Skeeter

As the final theory, this is perhaps the most interesting one, if not the best one. Rita Skeeter, the famed witch journalist for the Daily Prophet, could potentially be Rowling herself based on the theory that after far too many fabricated stories, Skeeter was forced to be banished from the wizarding world, thus snapping her wand in half, joining the Muggle world under the name J.K. Rowling and goes on to write the books we know and love today.

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
