Halloween. Depending on the scene at your college, this one holiday can be extended for a full weekend or even week of parties. With all the Instagram pictures happening, it can be hard financially to make a completely new costume every night. So, without further ado, I present to you some Halloween essentials that can be DIY-ed, reused, and made into a bunch of different costumes without breaking the bank.
1. Literally any black piece of clothing.
Tank tops, crop tops, t-shirts, tights, anything black can be used over and over again for a variety of *spooky* looks. Just add a couple different accessories, and you're good to go!
2. Fishnets.
Kind of in the same vein as black clothing, fishnets are a staple. They're back in style, you can get them anywhere, and they instantly add a new level to any basic costume. And most importantly--they're cheap and you can use them over and over again.
3. Oversized button-ups.
Frat boy, nerd, school girl and so much more. Oversized button-ups can work for so many outfits, and even though they may not be crazy cheap, you can wear them in real life after. Risky Business party, anyone?
4. Oversized T-Shirts.
You can cut them, write on them, and basically fashion them to fit any costume. For any kind of a movie character, political satire, or "this is my costume" kind of costume, an oversized tee should be a go-to.
5. Fake Blood
Add fake blood to anything, and you automatically become a vampire/zombie version of that thing. This is great if you run out of costumes, since you can just barely switch it up without spending a lot of dough. Be warned though — it stains very easily.
Halloween can be pricey, but if you shop smart and make sure you're reusing some of these essential pieces, the price tag can be the least scary part. Happy Halloween!
