One of the first things that comes to mind when thinking about Halloween is all of the scares and spooks that come from the haunted houses and creepy costumes. However, being scared isn't exactly everyone's forte and sometimes we'd much rather play it safe than have the shit scared out of us. For all of you Halloween lovers who would prefer to keep your pants unsoiled, this is for you.

1. Pumpkin Picking.

Because who doesn't love to run through fields of grass looking for that perfect pumpkin to take that perfect Instagram selfie with? Not only can you bank on getting the perfect pumpkin, but you get the perks of roasted corn, caramel apples, and petting zoos! The perfect fix in broad daylight for someone who isn't looking to freak out over zombies and clowns.

Maybe you don't like the thrill of being scared, but being lost could be right up your ally. Corn mazes are a great way to get some adventure out of the Halloween season without being completely terrified of something jumping out at you.

3. Jack-O-Lantern Festivals.

What better way to get into a modest Halloween spirit than watching thousands of creatively carved jack-o-lanterns being lit up? These little festivals really bring out the pumpkin carving spirit of Halloween, and also act as a nice way to relax with some friends and family as you see people’s beautiful work light up.

4. Costume Parties.

Who said these had to be scary? Dressing up is in my personal opinion the best part about Halloween. Maybe we’re too old to trick-or-treat, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t dress up in some elaborate or witty costume and have a good time! Sure, some people enjoy to dress up in scary costumes, but they’re usually not out to scare you! Go enjoy some pumpkin beer and put together your best look.

5. 13 Days of Halloween.

You know you love being able to sit down and get your "Halloweentown" marathon fill in. All of these classic family movies are some of the best things that come around during Halloween. Who needs "Paranormal Activity" when I can sit and enjoy singing, "This Is Halloween," with Jack Skellington? Grab your popcorn and take that seat on the couch with ABC.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
