Ohio is a great state. Right? Well, it must be decent if I've continued to live here for eighteen years.

While Ohio is certainly not the most glamorous state in the country, it is definitely a quality place to live. It is filled with great people, a healthy suburban atmosphere, close communities, and cornfields. Lots of cornfields.

But with every place comes its setbacks. And so, here are six struggles that come with living in Ohio.

1. Unpredictable Weather

With Ohio weather, you seriously never know what is going to happen. One day it feels like summer, the next day it's snowing. The upside of this is that sometimes Ohio can surprise us with lovely weather. The downside is that it can also surprise us with awful weather.

2. People from other states not understanding where you are from

Trying to describe where you live in Ohio to a person from another state is like trying to get your dog to stop eating human food. It just doesn't work. Nobody knows any cities in Ohio at all.

3. Cold Winters

While living in Ohio, you get to experience the wonder of having four seasons. No matter what the season, there are always positive and negative aspects. However, of all the seasons winter certainly carries the most baggage. And with Ohio comes very long and cold winters.

4. Sports Teams Here Never Win Championships (Other than Ohio State)

In Ohio, it can really be a struggle to be a sports fan. While Cleveland sports teams have not won a championship since 1964. Meanwhile, Cincinnati sports teams are on a 25-year championship drought themselves. Also, Columbus has only won one major championship since 2000 when the Columbus Crew SC won the 2008 MLS Cup. Without a doubt, you have to be a loyal sports fan to support Ohio teams.

5. The Lack of Things to Do

This section ultimately depends on where you live. There are certainly fun things available in all the big cities of Ohio. However, it can be difficult to find fun in more rural areas of the state. This can make it difficult for a group of friends to actually find something fun to do, particularly in the winter.

Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed my life in Ohio thus far however, it certainly has its struggles.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
