I have a lot of guy friends, actually all of my friends are guys. Most of the time when I go to their houses to visit, it usually consists of us sitting around a television playing video games. Naturally, as a writer for Odyssey this made me curious. What are the top 5 reasons why guys just LOVE video games? Well I asked my guy friends and we came up with this little list for our fellow gamers. This article is dedicated to them!
1. They Take Them To New Places 
Games like "Pokemon Go" and Minecraft help take guys to places they have never been before. My own mother plays "Pokemon Go" because it gets her out and walking. For guys who can never get out of their home town and never leave, its fascinating!
2. They Educate Minds
Video games actually teach people how to read. Video games consist of simple words like "Go" or "Stop" that make it entertaining. Most video games have plots and stories that are or were somehow true. Video games take guys to different places. Video games are also motivating for guys. Video games like "Dark Souls" "1+2+3 Minecraft", "Call of Duty", and "Warframe" are all games that educate. 3. Fun To Play With Friends
When there is absolutely nothing to do my friends often just go straight to video games. Video games have been a classic past time since the 80's! Sometimes after work it is just fun to get the room messy, be lazy, and play games!
4. They Manage Anger and AnxietyÂ
There is something about getting that kill in games like "Call of Duty" that guys just seem to really love! I mean when you can shoot somebody else, it helps you not take out their anger on girlfriends, loved ones, video games are great! Video games help my guy friends wait for things like rides from friends, when tv shows are going to be on.. ect. They are a great pasttime when they feel like this.
5. They Can Help Build Relationships 
Video games connect people all around the world. My guy friends have told me that since the people that play the games are scattered all over the place, they can keep in touch through video games. For example, we have a friend who is overseas in Germany and he plays with his buddies back in the US. Also, video games like Minecraft have connected people and taught people how to collaborate on projects.
