There are many reasons why I'm obsessed with tacos. They're tasty, versatile, and inexpensive. Even on my college student budget, I can afford to stuff my face with their deliciousness. I've eaten a lot of tacos in my life, and Las Vegas has some great and surprisingly authentic taquerias. Here are some of my favorites:
This spot is close to campus and has an intimate atmosphere. It's a great spot for a date or a dinner with friends. The tacos are around $2 — $4 each, and are served in taco trays. In addition to their tacos, I also recommend their chips and salsa, carne asada fries, and guacamole with pomegranate and toasted pumpkin seeds.
Taco y Taco has two locations. One is located near campus on Tropicana, and the other is in Henderson on Eastern Avenue by 215. Taco y Taco is the type of place where you walk up to the counter and order your tacos from a worker who will make them right in front of you in seconds. It's definitely authentic, but the Henderson location also has a nice atmosphere which makes this a viable spot for a nice meal out! A great feature of this eatery is their salsa bar, which is free. I highly recommend their Al Pastor tacos, which are my favorite in town.
3. Tacos El Gordo
Tacos El Gordo is well known in Vegas. They have authentic Tijuana tacos, and always have a line. Tacos El Gordo is proud of their quality, and has many different cuts of meat. Before taking a trip here, check out the menu on their website for more information. There are two locations: one near downtown, and one in North Las Vegas. They're open late, and this is a great place to stop at when you have the munchies after a night drinking downtown.
El Dorado Cantina is different from the other three eateries listed above because their tacos are served as a platter with rice and beans rather than for individual order. This is a great spot for a nice dinner, and they have more than 100 tequilas. This is definitely the taco spot to go to if you're trying to impress someone.
This is the place to go if you're on the strip or on Fremont Street. There is a location in the Hawaiian Marketplace on the strip and one on Fremont Street near the Heart Attack Grill. These tacos are a good choice if you're looking for a quick and affordable bite in a high tourism area of Las Vegas.
