Graduation might seem like a long way off, but for some of us it is imminent. Like two weeks imminent. And with graduation, is a time for celebration of all the accomplishments. And somehow there are presents as well.

My mom keeps badgering me for a list of things I would want for graduation (sorry mom I’m still working on it!), on top of what I want for Christmas.

Now, mom, this next list is no way, shape, or form what I want for a graduation present, but maybe it will inspire others on what to get their new grad.

1. A grocery or gas gift card

This may seem a little impersonal, but trust me your new grad will really appreciate not having to worry about paying for groceries or gas once those student loans kick in.

2. A work bag or luggage

If your new grad will need to bring documents or a computer to and from work every day, a trusty and well-made bag will be perfect. Also, if they are traveling for work all the time, some nice luggage is a thoughtful way to ensure that all of their travel clothes and belongings stay safe and protected while they travel the world.

3. Office Supplies

When I saw the above picture on Pinterest, I thought it was an amazing idea! As someone who loves office supplies (maybe a little too much), it would be awesome to start a new job with fresh pens/pencils, sticky notes, staples, paper clips, etc. There is just something refreshing about having brand new supplies.

4. Books

As weird as it sounds, there will be a lot more free time after graduation. I know, it’s weird to think about, but it is true! After being a full-time student, involved in multiple extracurriculars, and multiple jobs, having one job will be insanely boring. Coming home to a few good reads will be a great way to wind down at the end of the day.

5. Cash

It may seem impersonal like the gift card, but if you dress it up in some way, it can be very thoughtful. It is an honest gift; new grads probably will be hurting for cash as they transition into their new lifestyle.

Whatever you end up getting your grad, as long as it comes from the heart, it will be appreciated. Seriously, any little bit helps!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
