Christmas time is finally here, and that means shopping, shopping, and more shopping. Although I love giving gifts to my loved ones, it can be frustrating trying to find good gifts for everyone. We all have those people in our lives who are hard to buy for or already have everything they could want/need. To help you out this holiday season, here are some of what I consider to be Christmas gift staples:

1. Blankets

Blankets are a great gift for anyone because honestly, you can't own too many blankets. No matter how much you're willing to pay, you can find a blanket that will be perfect for the person you're buying for. If you're afraid that a blanket isn't an adequate gift, personalize it! Certain stores, like Sam's Club, let you personalize a blanket with your own picture, text, etc. for a very reasonable price. I actually had my sister a Golden Girls blanket made recently, and she absolutely loved it!

2. Gift Cards

Here's the thing about giving gift cards, literally everyone wants a gift card, but most of us don't want to just come out and say, "I'd rather you get me a gift card than something I don't like." The key to giving gift cards is to make it personal by getting it to a store or restaurant that you know that person likes. For example, give a coffee lover a Starbucks gift card or give a reader a gift card to Books-A-Million. If you're stumped on where to get a gift card to, get one for Amazon!

3. Bath Stuff

Ladies love bath stuff. Men probably do too. You really can't go wrong with a nice basket of bubble bath, bath bombs, lotions, good smelling soaps, etc. Bath stuff is available practically anywhere, and there's a ton of brands and products to choose from.

4. Nice water bottle or thermos

I don't know about you, but I always have my water bottle or Yeti Rambler with me. It's worth investing in reliable drinkware, in my opinion. You can personalize a water bottle or thermos with decals, making an awesome gift.

5. Treats and goodies

I know it's kind of weird to give food as a gift, but everyone likes food, so why not? Candy, specialty cheese and sausage tray, jellies and jams, and holiday pastries all make good gifts. Personally, I would be happy to get some homemade cookies or a tin of chocolates. So, if you can't think of what to get someone who seemingly has everything, this is probably a great gift idea.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
