Recruitment is approaching fast as workshops, preparation and raw excitement fills up both our schedules and our minds. With so much to do before August, why not take a break from the nitty gritty and daydream about your future little? The influence my big(s) had on me during these past two semesters has been incomprehensible. I hope to be the same sort of positive influence they were to me.

Gifts for your little can drain your wallet and stress out the perfectionist. Why not take a little inspiration from here?

1. A customized initial for their door.

I'm a fan of this simple gift myself, as it's a great idea for any dorm or sorority house living friend if they don't have something similar already. You could expand this gift to being your sorority letters or all three of her initials. Mix it up.

What you need:

13" wooden letter, Hobby Lobby: $3.49

Paint, Michael's: $.79

Total cost of gift: $4.28, before tax.

2. A fashionable up-cycled tank top.

The hot summer and early fall months don't leave us with many options to beat the heat. Luckily, this gift will last longer than the heat will. By using a sorority tank top you already own or buying an inexpensive one from the store you can create a great gift they couldn't buy elsewhere. Braid it, crop it or knot it according to your little's style with the tutorials featured on Gurl.

Total cost of gift: Price of the tank top.

3. A bath bomb. Or two. Or three.

If her dorm has a bath tub, don't pass this up. Bath bombs have become increasingly popular as of late and it's clear as to why! The relaxation a bath bomb offers is like a bubble bath with candles all in one. My favorite brand is, of course, Lush, because of the variety available. You can always DIY if there's not a store nearby or shipping doesn't appeal to you. With this tutorial, you can make about nine bath bombs for approximately $10. Good deal!

What you need:

Lush bath bomb: Approximately $6.50.

DIY bath bombs: Approximately $10 for nine.

Total cost of gift: $6.50-$10, before tax or shipping.

4. A Netflix gift card.

Some people say gift cards are a thoughtless gift. Well, I think if I'm helping someone binge "Grey's Anatomy" then I did a pretty good job of choosing a gift. I may never hear from them again, but as long as my little is pleased I'm happy with my choice of gift. The price of the gift cards I usually see around is a bit steeper than the other gifts listed here, but it also pays for at least three months of subscription. You can get these anywhere from Amazon or Target.

Total price of gift: $30

5. Your support, friendship, and love.

What a cliche, right? But seriously, this is really important. Your little is traversing the path you had to find your way through before and you know how difficult it can be. You should definitely help your little have fun, but you should also be there for them whenever they need it. They will absolutely need it.

Total price of gift: Priceless.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
