If you're not sure what to get for a gift exchange, here's a list of five gift basket ideas (disclaimer: most of these gifts would be best for people who like to drink... a lot).
1. Moscow Mule Kit:
I've been doing a lot of shopping this season, and I've seen so many types of copper mugs—naturally, this makes me think of Moscow mules. The mugs range anywhere from $7-$15 for a set of two (Check Tj Maxx or HomeGoods). Then all you need to buy is vodka, ginger beer, and limes. If you put everything together in a basket, it makes the perfect gift for under $50.
2. Manhattan Kit:
Another thing I've seen frequently in stores are martini shakers—ranging from $6-$20. If you chose one of the cheaper shakers, then two martini glasses would be a perfect accompaniment (in addition to the whiskey, vermouth, cherries, and bitters, of course). All together, this would be one of my favorite baskets to receive in a gift exchange.
3. Irish Car Bomb Kit:
This will be the most fun basket at your holiday party—guaranteed. You'll need to buy shot glasses and beer glasses (the shot glass is dropped into the beer glass right before the whole drink is chugged). Also, you'll need some Guiness (a four-pack will do), whiskey (preferably Jameson), and a bottle of Bailey's. (To keep the cost down, you can do travel size bottles of whiskey and Bailey's).
4. Coffee Kit:
For those who are not old enough to imbibe, here's a great alternative: buy a French press, a coffee mug, and some coffee beans. You can find a french press online or in stores from $10. (There's a gift set at Target for only $14!) Also, when buying the mug, select a plain one and add a personal touch—write a message with permanent marker and stick in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, and then it won't wash off. Again, put all items in a gift basket to make a perfect present.
5. Tea Kit:
Not everyone likes coffee (surprising, I know), so you could also do a tea-themed gift basket. Market District sells lots of different loose-leaf teas, so you can pick out different types for a varied selection. I would recommend including a French press for this basket as well for ease in brewing the loose-leaf.
You couldn't go wrong with any of these choices—cheers and happy holidays!
