College students have crazy schedules and tough workloads. This means that many Saturday mornings are spent in bed, as they should be. But what if you want something to do other than schoolwork? Here are five fun things you can do on a Saturday morning, after 8 a.m. of course!
1. Pepper Place Market
Pepper Place is a great way to get some shopping done, as well as enjoy the community. With products ranging from dog treats to goat cheese, the many booths at Pepper Place will have a lot of unique things to offer. It's also a great outing with friends! What better way to bond than wandering around a market with a Steel City Popsicle?
2. Boulder Field
Boulder Field, located in the Moss Rock Preserve, is a great way to get off campus. With climbing opportunities for all skill levels and trails galore, everyone can enjoy! If you're not much of a hiker (like myself), then you can bring a picnic and enjoy a brunch with your roommates in nature. It's a perfect way to get off campus but still enjoy the beautiful day.

3. Go to a tailgate
It's technically still morning when these start, so why not? You can hang with friends while eating free food, listen to the band play and more! The tailgates are also a great way to show support for Samford's football team. If you're in a sorority or fraternity, odds are you'll have a tent to go to with your friends. If not, check out the Student Life tent where you can enjoy a hot dog and watch an SEC game on the flat screen! If you would like to set up a tent of your own, check out the link below.

4. Brunch, anyone?
Many people get off Samford's campus to treat themselves to non-Caf food on the weekends. If your looking for a cool brunch spot for those late Saturday mornings, check out Another Broken Egg! They have great breakfast and lunch, especially the beignets. With healthy and totally sweet choices (monster cinnamon roll...need I say more?) there's definitely something there for everyone.

5. The Birmingham Zoo
Last, but certainly not least, is the Birmingham Zoo. The Zoo is just minutes away from Samford, and located conveniently close to Another Broken Egg! This place might turn into an all-day event, so make sure you're not completely slammed with homework before you go. There are around "950 animals of 230 species," so the zoo is huge and full of interesting animals to see and learn about. Besides, who wouldn't want to spend a morning feeding giraffes or see the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show?
