As friend groups form, it’s easy to notice a pretty typical pattern of the type of people that make up the friend group. All the different types make up the important balance of the group and each add something to the dynamic. Below are a few examples of the types of friends.
1. Mom Friend
We hear about this one the most. This is the friend who does everything they can to care for everyone else in the group; reminding you to eat and drink water, to do your schoolwork, and even make sure you don’t do anything too stupid, i.e. they care and act like a mom.
2. Weird Friend
This is the one with maybe odd habits or interests. They’re always sharing some weird information they learned, like Australian glow worms, or an offbeat comedy movie that is maybe a bit too strange. They can go on and on about a unique topic, and even if it is a bit strange you can’t help but love them anyway.
3. Antisocial Friend
The friend who doesn’t really want to do anything and you can go days without hearing from them. Are they alive? Who knows, they never answer your texts. When they’re ready to actually see the light of day, they’ll have a great time, but if you take them out when they’d rather be cooped up inside, get ready to lead them around like a lost puppy.
4. Party Friend
This is the friend who loves the social scene. They’re probably involved in Greek life and usually attend parties on a weekly basis. They seem to know everyone and always get their work done on time no problem. Although, there is a downside as they probably don’t get any sleep, so they can always be seen with a coffee.
5. Sarcastic Friend
They always have a retort for everything, and they usually don’t stop being sarcastic. “Can you be serious for five seconds?” is usually retorted with a deadpanned “I am,” and you kind of wish you could throttle them. Although, usually the sarcasm is funny, as they always contribute the best unexpected jokes and usually great you with some sort of equivalent to “I’m dead inside.” They’re super fun.
Obviously, there are more types of friends, and usually the types mix, because no one is one dimensional, but here’s a funny taste of what I’ve experienced.
