5 Free Campus Resources You Should Be Taking Advantage Of

A campus as beautiful as Appalachian State has many great things to offer. But do you know about all the great free resources available on campus? Here are 5 free campus resources that you should be taking advantage of. After all, you technically did already pay for them with your hard earned tuition.

1. Group Fitness Classes

Have you ever wanted to try yoga? Or how about kick-boxing? Now's the time to do it! Take advantage of the free Group Fitness classes offered on campus and start working out while having fun today! From Belly Dancing to Water Aerobics, there are a variety of different activities to help you stay healthy while learning a new skill in the process.

2. The University Writing Center

Have the writing woes? The UWC is there to help! The University Writing Center is a free resource offering assistance with writing, brainstorming, and any other stage of the writing process. Work on your assignments collaboratively with readers who care. Whether you're writing a math paper, a personal creative writing project, or need help with citations, the staff at the UWC are standing by! Stop by room 008 in the basement of the Library for a walk-in session or schedule an appointment online.

3. Career Services

Located on the third floor of the J.E.T. Building, Career Services offers assistance with cover letters and resumes, helps you prepare and practice for interviews, and can also help you find an internship or a job! Stop by the office Monday through Friday from 2-4 for more information or to make an appointment.

4. Library Tech Desk

Did you know that you can rent digital equipment like laptops, iPads, Kindles, phone and laptop chargers, video cameras, and even Xbox controllers from the Tech Desk in the Library!? That's right, as an ASU student, you have access to any kind of digital equipment you may need right in the Library basement. Rent a Microsoft Surface or a Mac Book Pro; all you need is your App card. Check online for a full list of available equipment.

5. Tech Support Center

Offering assistance with virus removal, software sales and installation, and other general hardware issues, ASU's Tech Support Center is a great free resource to take advantage of. If you're having trouble with your laptop or other digital equipment, stop by the Tech Support Center located on the bottom floor of Anne Belk for a free assessment. They'll even offer you a loaner laptop while yours is in the shop!

These resources, among many others, are all offered to ASU students for free! Take advantage of them while you can! Your wallet and your GPA will thank you.

Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.
