5 Fictional Deaths I Will Never Get Over

Bad things do happen to good characters.

After finishing the TV show "The Following," I pondered the question, "Which fictional deaths have stuck with the most throughout my life?" After asking my close friends and family, I narrowed down my list to the select five. Also, I would just like to add apologies for whatever spoilers may be included in this article.

1. Mufasa, "The Lion King"

Betrayed by his brother, Mufasa is often overshadowed due to the fact that most people saw "The Lion King" when they were so young that they regularly forget the great king.

2. Uncle Ben, "The Amazing Spiderman"

Due to Uncle Ben's death not being in the main plot of "The Amazing Spiderman," his death often gets forgotten. His calm, humble personality reminds us that bad things actually do happen to good people.

3. Marley, "Marley and Me"

Watching this movie multiple times does not change the sad fact that Marley passes away at the end. Inevitably, it always leaves me and many others in tears.

4. Ellie, "Up"

One of the scenes in animated movies that tug at the heartstrings: when Carl's wife Ellie passes away and he is left alone. Although he is alone, it is soon forgotten, as he goes on the adventure we all wish we could experience.

5. Rue, "The Hunger Games"

One of the few tributes that believed in Katniss when nobody else did. The sweet tribute from Distract 11 that was the youngest in the games at the time reminded Katniss of her little sister and caused Katniss to want to protect Rue with her life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
