If you're from Rochester, New York or anywhere remotely close to the area, it's more than likely that you've asked yourself one question: "Is there anything to do?" Whether you believe it or not, summer is an ideal time to be living in the upstate New York area. Here are just a few ideas to keep in mind for the next few months, especially when you're bored with what the area has to offer.

1. Windstream Party in the Park

Every Thursday night up until August 11, you can find entertainment on the corner of Court and Chestnut Streets in downtown Rochester. Local bands, food trucks, and different activities can keep you entertained right before the weekend arrives.

2. Rochester SummerFest

Rhinos Stadium is hosting this year's two-day music festival, complete with local foods, BBQ, blues music and throwback 90's hits. Mark July 8 and 9 off on your calendar for a weekend of music and fun.

3. 48th Annual Corn Hill Arts Festival

Starting July 9, over 375 artists are bringing their creativity to the downtown Rochester area for a two-day event. With tons of art, four stages of music, and a variety of beers and wines from the Finger Lakes region, where could you possibly go wrong?

4. Park Ave Summer Arts Festival

The Park Ave Fest on August 6 and 7 is a classic festival for Rochesterians and out-of-towners alike. Performers, vendors, and art shows bring the city of Rochester together in the perfect urban atmosphere (for upstate New York, at least). Kick off your August with this festival, before you have to worry about packing up and heading back to school.

5. Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival

From June 24 to July 2, enjoy the melodic sounds of the annual Rochester Jazz Fest. Venues all over the city will be hosting artists like Grace Potter and Gregg Allman, which means that there's no way that you won't enjoy yourself.

While Canal Days, Greek Fest, and the Lilac Festival might have already said their "farewells" for this year, there's still a ton of opportunities to go out and enjoy yourself this summer. Check out http://www.visitrochester.com/events/ for more festivals and events to save the date for!

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
