Sophomore year is over, and what a fantastic year it has been. This year was the complete opposite of my freshman year, which wasn't that great. I've gone through more personal growth, pushed past limits and met some incredible people. Those are the big things of the year. I don't think I could list all the reasons that made my year fantastic, but I can share my five favorite things that I enjoyed about this year.

1. Taking 18 credits

I know what you're thinking, "How in the world would taking six classes be fun?" It was a spur-of-the-moment decision to take 18 credits. I was thinking over the summer if I wanted to challenge myself and if I could handle the workload that it would entail. It was one of those pestering thoughts that would stick to the back of your mind. I made a decision and emailed my adviser, and asked him to help me take 18 credits. It was worth it and I would do it again.

2. Becoming a Resident Educator (RE)

A big part of my sophomore year was being a Resident Educator. This job has pushed me and shattered my comfort zone. It made me realize some qualities about myself I thought I never had. I have met some incredible people while being in this position. I have realized what it's like to have a group of people be a "family." I never experienced that before but now I can say I have. Thank you to my staff (again) for being more than a group of people I work with. Being part of Residence Life has made this year really something.

3. Meeting intelligent, bright and strong female friends

I have never had a strong relationship with other girls. I always preferred to be friends with guys, and I felt like I connected with them better. This year I have met some lovely girls that proved me wrong. It's really cool to have girlfriends, and I mean that in the most sincere way. The ability to sit down with another person and talk for hours about anything and everything, is such an amazing thing. The girls who I met this year fill my world with laughter and happiness.

4. Joining Knitting and Crocheting club

I joined a club this year! I went to the club fair with one of my friends during the fall semester and noticed a small booth that caught my eye. The booth was for the Knitting and Crocheting club. I wrote my name and email on the sign-up sheet and decided to join. It sounded like fun. I never knitted or crocheted before in my life. The girl sitting at the booth told me not to worry because she could teach me. I was nervous but after going to each meeting, I fell in love with the club. I know how to knit and crochet, which I'm really proud of. I have crocheted two scarves and a couple other small projects. I also met some lovely people in the club. We may be a small club but we are mighty (and friendly). I can't wait to be the Treasurer and work on more projects next year.

5. Courage and growth

I grew a lot this year. I owe a lot of that growth to Residence Life (hey, thanks!). I have done a lot of things this year I would have never thought of doing before. I think of all the opportunities and experiences I would have missed out on. I feel like I gained a lot of courage this year as well. I look at myself and everything I accomplished this year, and I couldn't be happier. This year had it's challenging but isn't that expected? I can't wait to see what next year will be like and how I will continue to change and grow.

Sayonara, sophomore year and thanks for everything.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
