My 5 Favorite Things About Disneyland

It was difficult to pick only five.

There are so many reasons to love The Happiest Place on Earth. Here's why I always want to go back, and never want to leave once I get there.

1. "Welcome back, Princess!"

It's honestly heartbreaking when you aren't greeted in this way upon your first entry into the park.

2. The music

Before you've even made your way through security, the music that defines Disney is dancing through your ears. You'll hum it for at least a week after your visit and sing along to it every hour of every day inside the park.

3. The night parades/fireworks

The dancers, the floats, the lights, the music pounding in your chest, sitting on the sidewalk on Main Street for sometimes over an hour to get the perfect spot. It's the perfect way to end any day spent at Disney.

The fireworks before, or after, the parade are the best. Especially if you get a perfect spot right in the middle of Main Street (and no one decides to put their children on their shoulders).

4. The rides

The beginning ascent on Hyperspace Mountain

I never sing anything louder than the "Star Wars Main Title" at the beginning of the ride. I might scream "IT'S A TRAP" a little louder.

The smell of the water on Pirates

There's nothing like it. It's oddly soothing and the faux night-sky always puts me at peace no matter how chaotic the day may have been.

The climb to the top of the hill on Thunder Mountain Railroad

Waving at the rattlesnakes, vultures, turtles, and glancing over to see the progress on Star Wars Land is always fantastic. "Shooting" the goat (with finger guns only of course) tops it all off.

The journey through the line to Indiana Jones

Even though the line can sometimes stretch for hours, the fun secrets hidden along the way and the cave-like atmosphere almost makes it worth it. Also, did I mention the Snake?

5. Every smile,

Laugh

and Scream

From the minute you step foot onto Disney property, you're sure to have a magical time.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
