As the weather gets colder and snow days become a common occurrence, it's easy to find yourself questioning how to stay warm, dry and comfortable while remaining fashionable. In the midst of a frosty February, most of us are dreaming of sundress season while avoiding leaving our warm beds to go out and face the truth– you may actually freeze if you don't accessorize properly. Luckily, there are a few key pieces that make layers, rainboots and oversized everything seems little bit more glamorous.

1. Waterproof Booties.

$55, Sam Edelman

A step up from the tall, patterned rainboots you snagged from Target five years ago, these simple waterproof booties are a winter essential for any wardrobe. Brands like Sam Edelman and Jeffrey Campbell make waterproof boots of varying colors and finishes, at more affordable prices than those dreamy Burberry rainboots you've been lusting after. Paired with black skinny jeans and your favorite knit or ankle grazers and a heavy raincoat, these are guaranteed to keep you dry and comfortable while adding a stylish pop of patent.

2. A Puffer Coat.

$90, Missguided.com

Leather jackets and open-front coats are cute, until it starts snowing and the wind blows right through them. In unpredictable weather, it's important to have a coat that's going to keep you warm while traveling to work or school. Puffer coats are cozy and insulating, and a little bit of faux fur adds an elevated touch. Websites like Asos and Missguided carry a wide variety of heavy coats, while brands like Ralph Lauren and Kenneth Cole offer a beautiful (and more pricey) selection.

3. A Touch of Cashmere.

$200, Zara

If there's one thing I don't mind splurging on during the colder months, it's cashmere. Hats, gloves, sweaters and tops that have a bit of cashmere woven in are the ultimate luxury, pairing casual style with comfort and warmth. These items may be a bit pricey, but it's worth the investment for a stunning piece that will last you through even the most brutal of winters. Zara offers quality cashmere pieces at fair prices, while brands like Ted Baker carry slightly more luxurious garments with a more intimidating price tag.

4. A Staple Pair of Gloves.

$62, Coach

I only recently began incorporating gloves into my everyday outfits, and I now view them as an essential accessory. Personally, I've realized that my hands are always the coldest when I'm out running errands on a 30 degree day. Gloves give any look a chic feel, and act as a simple way to accessorize an otherwise boring outfit. Brands like Coach and Calvin Klein carry ever popular styles, but you can find some great leather and suede-look gloves at H&M or Uniqlo.

5. Your Comfy Go-To.

$37, Asos.com

As the snowy weather continues and the schoolwork piles up, it's necessary to have a collection of loungewear for those days when you just can't be bothered to try. It's more than possible to dress down and still feel presentable on a lazy day– it's all about choosing the right pieces. Run to Vitoria's Secret and stock up on leggings and joggers to pair with your best sneakers and an oversized sweater, or take a trip to Topshop for some slightly more elegant casual wear. Asos.com also comes in handy once again, with hundreds of unique and affordable casual styles to choose from.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
