Between the flannels, the bonfires, and the massive piles of leaves, It's hard not to FALL in love with autumn in NOVA. Check out these local farms for some good old pumpkin picking, tractor riding, spooky good times.
1. Cox Farms (Centreville, VA)
By day, Cox Farms is an Ugg wearer's paradise. Apple cider doughnuts, hot chocolate, a hayride, and an acre of pumpkins for sorority girls everyone to take pictures in makes this place an autumnal dream. By night, their Fields of Fear will make you pee your fleece-lined leggings before you can say "puffer vest."
2. The Corn Maize in the Plains (The Plains, VA)
This corn "maize" is 5 glorious acres of puns and scarecrows. The maze is cut down to a different shape each year, with walls of corn over seven feet tall. Bring a flashlight and some friends for a night you won't forget.
3. Bradley Farms Haunted House (Herndon, VA)
Bradley Farms has geared up for the final season of their annual haunted house in Herndon, VA. The family owned fear factory has over ten years of experience in terror, and recommend that children under the age of 15 do not attend.
4. The Death Trail (Sterling, VA)
The Death Trail is one of Northern Virginia's scariest venues, and has been known to induce both fainting and vomiting. This year's trail features an "Asylum" theme, as well as an escape room of the same room for the brave soul.
5. The Haunted Forrest at Halloween Woods (Sterling, VA)
Alogonkian Regional Park transforms into a mile long (haunted, obviously) hike through the woods in the name of Halloween. Pro Tip: you will be split up from your group and forced to walk a portion of the hike alone for an extra spooky experience.
Happy haunting, everyone!
