If you're a sane person living in Minnesota, you love fall more than any other season by far. And because you love fall so much, you probably want to make the most of it and do lots of awesome things this month, right? If so, these are some of the best things going on for the rest of the fall season for you to check out all over the Twin Cities. Try something new, branch out and get super cultured this fall! (Yes, of course you should still do all the typical fall stuff too, I'm not a crazy person.)
1. Go to a concert
There are tons of great shows all fall at a variety of great venues. No matter your music preferences, you'll definitely find a good concert to attend this fall. These are the lineups for Varsity, First Ave. and Mill City Nights.
2. Go to a literary event or book signing
Take it from an English major and book nerd, the Twin Cities literary scene is actually pretty tight. There are author readings and signings every day, all around the city. Also definitely worth checking out are the Twin Cities Book Festival (coming up this Saturday, Oct. 15!) and NerdCon: Stories (also this coming weekend). Take a weekend to be extra-literary.
3. Go to a play
There are always so many plays and shows going on around here. The Twin Cities has a ton of great theaters and a wide variety of shows playing at once. This fall, check out "Cinderella," "The Bluest Eye," "Legally Blonde," or one of these other great options. If these aren't your thing, look into a more unique experience at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater or the Minnesota Orchestra.
4. Find fun entertainment on or around campus
Aside from the obvious and popular sports and social activities, there are constantly new and inviting things going on around campus. Try going to a less attended sporting event for free or look into the upcoming schedule at Northrop. Pay attention to signs around campus or events on Facebook and go to all the free student activities while you still can.
5. Go to an art gallery or an artistic event
There are amazing-sounding art gallery events, art festivals and exhibit openings all the time. Seriously, there is no shortage of great art in this town. If you're not into spending hours at a museum, check out a smaller gallery and try to go during an opening or special event to get food and entertainment along with all the cool art! Here is a fairly comprehensive day-by-day listing of art activities in the area, and here's another similar list compiled by MPLS Art. Get cultured this fall!
