Tons of people love sushi, but does everyone know its history? Do people even know what they're eating half the time? Here are five facts about the Japanese cuisine to get your mouth watering!

1. Sushi was once a street food, eaten as a snack by the Japanese.

2. Salmon is actually a white fish, it gets its orange color from its diet of crustaceans such as krill and shrimp.

3. The most dangerous sashimi is the puffer fish. If not prepared correctly, the consequences can be fatal to the customer and the chef.

4. Sushi is traditionally handled with one's hands, not with chopsticks, and is supposed to be eaten between one to two bites.

5. The knives used by sushi chefs must be sharped everyday. Another fun fact is that they are descendants of samurai swords.
