As I come closer to my graduation date, I start to get excited about my future at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Since I’m coming from metro Atlanta and have not ever even been to Knoxville expect to tour university's campus, here are the 5 reasons I’m excited about to be a Vol:
1. Going far away from home.
A lot of people from my high school are literally going 30 minutes from our town (no lie). So I really like the fact I’m going 3 hours from my house and I will really have to learn how to be on my own and figure out what I have to do for myself
2. Making new friends.
Don’t get me wrong--my hometown friends are great and I love them to death, but I’m really excited to go to college and meet new people. I know only 3 other people from my school and 2 of them I don’t really know that well. So I’m all for meeting new people and making new friendships.
3. Football!!!
I was never one for football games in high school, but for some reason I’m pumped for this year’s football season at UTK! It starts on a Thursday this year, but I’m still stoked.
4. The classes.
Okay, this might be a shocker because who really is excited to do work for hours on end and stress out about grades, but for some reason, I’m excited about that. Since I am going 3 hours away from my hometown and probably won’t be bringing my car with me the first semester, I’m really going to have to keep myself busy, so I don’t get homesick too much. Which brings me to the last thing I’m excited about...
5. Joining clubs and getting involved.
In high school, I only did two things: work and TAB (Teen Advisory Board for my local library), so I’m really excited to get involved around campus. I plan to do something with writing (of course) and also something fun. Doing this will help me keep busy and think less about missing home.
All I know is I’m pretty excited to start my new life in Knoxville this fall!
