5 Essentials For Every Winter Wardrobe

As winter approaches, we must exchange our wonderfully chic late summer wear, — let's face it, it's been an unusually warm fall — for even cuter, warmer fall/winter clothes. These are the must haves for getting through a potentially cold or uncommonly warm winter.

1. Booties

Cute boots are essential for fall and winter. This dual-seasonal footwear is perfect for our current weather.

2. A Good Blanket Scarf

Blanket scarfs are the new trend this year and can be paired with a nice long sleeve shirt or a chic, comfy winter coat.

3. A Fall-Colored Jacket

Army green, plum purple, or navy blue are all acceptable colors for either a fall or winter outfit. This jacket will look amazing with a light shirt or a nice, warm sweater.

4. Leggings

While in college, leggings have become a must-need in anyone's closet. Whether they are cute leggings with a little detail or fleece-lined for warmth, they are the perfect pant year-round.

5. A Good Attitude

After the elections this year, whether your candidate won or lost, we all need a good dose of new attitude going into the end of the year. At a time where we are home with family and friends for Thanksgiving or Christmas, we need to remember that we are blessed to be surrounded by those we care for and who care for us.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
