5 Essentials to Buy for Your First Apartment in Dubai

Moving into your first apartment in Dubai usually means going into your new home with a clean slate.

You probably come without furniture, bedding, kitchen utensils, or other things you need to live comfortably and do everything you normally do.

Although you may have a few items to bring from your previous home, it's best to consider starting over and getting new furniture, dining and kitchen utensils, appliances, and other things you need for your new home.

Therefore, moving to your first apartment in Dubai entails visiting one of the IKEA stores in the UAE to furnish your apartment and have everything you need to call it home.

What to buy for your new home in Dubai

If you're making a shopping list of everything you need for your new apartment, be sure to include these items:

1. Bedroom Essentials

Getting good sleep is crucial, even if you've just moved into your new apartment. As such, prioritize getting the right furniture, fixtures, and other items you need to feel comfortable and secure in your bedroom.
Although you can only sleep on the floor with a mattress, you may need a bed frame if you want to go the traditional route.
There are plenty of designs, patterns, and sizes available, so you'll have many options to choose from.
Consider your bedroom size and personal style when purchasing your bed frame to make sure you get a frame that fits the room.
Other items to put on your shopping list are:
● bed sheets
● Pillows and pillowcases
● Quilts or quilts and duvet covers
● lamps
● wardrobe hanger
● window treatment
● Laundry Baskets
Don't forget to get additional storage solutions, such as a wardrobe, plastic organizers, and bins under the bed to maximize space.
If you can get some items in sets, like bed linen and pillowcases, do so because you may end up saving money in the process.

2. Kitchen Essentials

Furnishing your kitchen is crucial if you want to start living comfortably in your home as soon as possible.
If the apartment does not have a dining group, then you should give priority to obtaining it. If you have a kitchen island but no stools, consider getting at least two chairs first, especially if you live alone.

Again, consider the size of your kitchen, interior design or theme, and your personal style to get the right furniture to match the room.
For kitchen and dining gadgets, focus on getting these first:
● One medium or large frying pan and one large and one small pan
● One medium or large sized dish that is oven safe
● Four plates and bowls
● Four pieces each of forks, knives and spoons
● Four Drinking Cups
● Four cups or cups with saucers
● Cooking utensils, including spoon, ladle, tongs, etc.
● chopping board
● Measuring cups and spoons
● oven glove
● dish towels
● Dish drying rack, if you don't have a dishwasher
● litter boxes
Again, try to find a few items in combinations to avoid confusing the endless options and ensure that they will work with the style or interior look of your kitchen.
As for appliances, you won't go wrong with getting a cooker, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, and coffee maker first if you don't have these yet. If you love making smoothies, buy a blender too.
It's best to go for small amounts at the moment, especially if you live alone. Even if you invite your friends or family, you can always use the disposable cutlery when entertaining them.
Although you may need to have a lot of items for your kitchen, you don't need to go over your budget if you choose the right home goods store that offers inexpensive quality options.

3. Living Room Essentials

Your living room wouldn't be complete without at least a sofa. For this reason, put this furniture at the top of your shopping list.
If you want to buy a living room set, skip the section if you don't have a big budget. Instead, choose a sofa and one or two smaller chairs. And don't forget the coffee table.
In addition to these pieces of furniture, complete your living room with these:
● Side Tables
● window treatment
● Floor lamps and tables
● Storage Solutions
If you don't have any decorations yet and don't want your living room to look bare, get some items like wall paintings, picture frames, and vases.

4. Bathroom Essentials

To feel comfortable using your bathroom, you need to enhance its privacy. You can start by getting blinds or blackout curtains to cover the windows.
To keep water off the floor, bring a bath rug or bath rug.
In addition to basic toiletries, you will also need these items to keep your bathroom organized, clean, and functional:
● Bath Towels
● Hand and face towels
● Shower curtain and liner, if needed
● Wall hooks
● Toilet brush and plunger
● toilet paper
● Small trash
Consider matching the window treatment and bath rug to the shower curtain and towels you'll be getting for a cohesive look.

5. Cleaning supplies

You'll want to keep your apartment clean and organized at all times. You can only do this if you have the right cleaning tools.
Here are the cleaning essentials you need to keep.

When furnishing your first apartment in Dubai, it is best to determine the budget first.

If you haven't moved elsewhere yet, make a checklist of the items you need to buy and set your budget. If you have already moved, find the remaining funds and prioritize what you want to get.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads.
