5 Emotions After Returning From Spring Break

It is a blessing when it’s finally time to go home for spring break. After weeks of hard work and stressing out over homework, midterms, projects, and other activities, it’s nice to be able to go home enjoy some free time with family, friends, and pets who you haven’t seen in weeks.

But after a week or so of relaxation and maybe a taste of summer, it makes it even harder to go back and do another seven or so weeks of even harder work and preparing for final exams and the last of all the projects and homework. So, here we all are facing the second half of the spring semester.

1. Sadness.

Once again, you have to pack up your stuff and travel back to school. You may love college and all of its perks, but it is still hard to leave the comfort of your home. Being able to sleep in and do nothing for a whole week has been absolutely amazing, but now you have to go back to school and do work when all you want to do is curl up in a corner with a blanket, some mac and cheese, and watch Netflix.

2. Disgust.

Ew…look at all the homework, readings, projects, tests, and quizzes you have to take! Now, you have to set an alarm in order to wake up early for your morning classes, too. And instead of nice home-cooked meals from Mom and Dad or getting your favorite food from your favorite restaurants, you must eat dining hall food.

3. Anger.

Once you have gotten back into the swing of things and gotten enough homework, projects, and studying to do, you become stressed out over all of it. Thus, you become angry that you are stressed out. Plus, with the days getting longer and the temperature rising, spring fever is hitting hard and all you want is to be outside. You want summer to finally come to your rescue so you can feel the warm sun on your skin, tan on the beach, and go out at night with your friends.

4. Fear.

At this point, there are probably about three to two weeks left in the semester. You are trying to wrap up and finish your projects and homework and you are constantly studying for final exams. And with each class there is always a little homework still given on top of all the final projects. With so many things to do, you are still stressed and fearful that you will forget a homework assignment, a reading, or if there is a pop quiz in class.

5. Joy.

You have finally taken all of your final exams and you have not only survived all of the work and tests, but you have survived the sadness, the disgust, the anger, and the fear that you have felt over the past several weeks. You are officially free for three whole months (or almost three whole months). You can live in bliss with friends at the beach!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
