It’s inevitable that your eating habits will change when you start college. Loads of school work, classes, and all of the new responsibilities piled on top of college students can sometimes make it very difficult for them to put their health first. However, discovering easy ways to remain healthy through all of the stress is well worth it.

Here are 5 tips to stay as healthy as possible while being away at school:

1. Invest in a Nutribullet.

This handy, easy-to-use blender doubles as a smoothie maker and a cup to go, making a stressed college student’s life a little bit easier when looking for a healthy snack.

2. Stay away from those late-night pizza orders.

It’s obviously difficult to say no to a pizza when you come home from a night out. This is why you should keep healthy snacks available in your dorm at all times to prevent late night binging with your friends.

3. Plan a gym routine with your roommate.

Going to the gym is hard, but going with a friend will make it more enjoyable. Planning a weekly schedule with your roommate will provide motivation as well as a reliable gym buddy.

4. Water is your best friend.

College entails a whole lot of studying, but also plenty of going out with friends as well. When looking for an energy boost, many turn to coffee, which certainly does do the trick. However, one thing I learned in college is that drinking plenty of water helps just as much. Keeping a pack of water in your room will give you a go-to refresher as well as energy boost, especially on those hungover mornings.

5. Track your steps.

Ubering to class may be tempting, but if you own an iPhone (which I’m sure you do) get yourself on the health app, and set a daily goal for the amount of steps you take. You will find yourself obsessing over walking that extra mile to get those steps in.

7.Reward yourself.

Don’t deprive yourself from the foods you love. It’s all about balance. Restricting yourself from every food you crave will only lead to binging down the road. So remember, your hard work deserves a reward here and there. If you want a cupcake, eat a cupcake.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
