We've all had those days where nothing at all goes right for us. Whether you get a bad grade, or you lose someone you love, sometimes life just gets really, really tough. There are few things that we as humans can control in our own lives, but that’s it; there are still a few things. Here’s a few ways you can turn your life around yourself.
1) If you don’t like a certain situation you’re in, remove yourself.
Most people do go through a lot these days, with the selfishness of our generation. Every one is human and cares about certain things but if you’re being treated like absolute crap and you aren’t happy, get the hell out of there. Run as fast as you can because it won’t get better unless you do something for yourself. You may see this as being selfish, but sometimes you just have to walk away from something that isn’t good for you. Trust me, you will not regret loving yourself first when you get out.
2) If you think you deserve more, go out and get it for yourself.
So you didn’t get the grade you think you deserve or your significant other is not who you thought they were. Well, you have the ability to change yourself to get more than what you’re getting. I think a lot of people forget that they’re life is at least somewhat in their control and that they can change these things about themselves. Look, if you’re not getting what you want, you have the ability to change yourself to achieve these goals. There are no excuses for not being the best you can be. Do not give up when things go wrong; get thinking and get changing to better yourself.
3) Forgive, forgive, forgive.
A LOT of people mess up. If someone has enough courage to admit their mistakes and is truly sorry about them, gosh darn it forgive that sucker. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that someone has a free pass back into the place in your life that they so royally effed up. I mean just forgive them. If they are putting in enough effort to want to be in your life, please let them be a part of it. It will improve your life immensely because having people who care about you in your life is a hell of a lot better than having a bunch of people who could give a s*** less about you. Forgiving people is the key to a happy life, so stop being stubborn and forgive.
4) Be a little bit selfish.
I’m not saying forget about caring about anyone, all I’m saying is that sometimes you have to care about yourself a little bit more. Especially as a younger person, you have a lot to figure out about yourself and about your life. So, don’t be afraid to give something up if it’s not what you want. After all, it is your life so take advantage of it. It’s not bad to disappoint someone if its not making you happy. You’re allowed to live your own life without being influenced by those around you.
5) And most importantly, don’t forget to get to know yourself.
Last but for sure not least, you have to learn things about yourself and love yourself before investing your time in other people’s lives. Hanging out by yourself and getting to know what you like and what you really don’t like is super, super important. Seriously, go find yourself and stop listening to everyone trying to tell you who you are. Other people’s opinions don’t matter once you know who you truly are, so go out there and find it.
Although we don’t live in a world where we can design our lives so they work out perfectly and we get along with everyone, we still do get to decide how we ourselves live our own lives. Don’t forget that you have the ability to achieve whatever you want to and you have the ability to control how you react to situations. There is a lot of commotion in this world and our lives do get affected by outside sources, but you have to decide if you are going to learn from these changes or if you’re going to let them affect you negatively. Keep a positive outlook and just focus on yourself for a while, it’ll do you some good.
