5 Easy Ways To Improve Your Happiness

Let's face it- times have been tough. We're all trying our best to get through as best as we can. We've done it, we're still here, but sometimes it's hard to keep a positive mind set. With all the problems we face today, pessimism and negativity may be the worst. Even when we're achieving greatness, or just getting though a hard time, we don't often stop and take time to be happy for what we have. Our happiness is needed so much, and we so rarely devote time to simply finding happiness. Even the smallest thing can improve our attitude, which leads to improving our day and the days of others, which leads to improving lives. It's time we take a minute just to smile, and ignore the negativity. Here are a few small, easy ways to bring happiness into your day.

1. Have a cup of tea

Drinking a hot cup of tea can be so relaxing and soothing. It's a great way to calm any tension you have, and a nice way to spend your time when you have a few minutes to yourself. Plus, it's an easy way to get hydrated, especially if you're not in the mood for water. Once you're hydrated, you'll be more alert, and chances are your body will feel good and strong. If you do something nice for your body, it'll thank you by making you feel great. Perfect way to begin your day.

2. Listen to some music

Music is universal for a reason. It's an easy way to give you a great feeling. Who doesn't love singing in the shower or the car? Music gives us endorphins in a way that nothing else can. And let's face it- a quick jam session can instantly improve your mood. So listen to some of your favorite tunes, or some classic tunes that will put a smile on your face. I recommend "Bohemian Rhapsody," "The Time Warp" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, or the theme song from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-air."

3. Subscribe to the Buzzfeed Dog A Day Newsletter

This is a God-sent. It's so simple- you sign up for the newsletter, and Buzzfeed will send you a picture of a cute dog every day. I know-so simple! But it's such an easy way to make you smile. There have been so many times when I've been stressed at work, going through dozens of emails, and I randomly open one from Buzzfeed with an adorable fluffy puppy staring at me! Instant happiness right in your inbox. Join the newsletter here: https://www.buzzfeed.com/adamdavis/buzzfeed-has-a-...

4. Look at some GIFs of Winnie the Pooh

It's impossible to be sad when you're looking at cute GIFs of Pooh bear. I mean look at how adorable!

It doesn't get sweeter than that!

5. Relive some highlights from your childhood

Something about nostalgia just hits all of us in the heart. It takes us back to the mindset we had as a child, where everything was perfect and about having fun. So go find one of your favorite animated movies as a child, and watch it. Find a book you loved as a child, and go read it (pictures and all). Think about your favorite food when you were a child, and eat as much of it as it takes to bring you back to your earliest days. Go drink from a juice box- you'll be surprised how quickly all those carefree feelings come running back.

So there you have it, some small and easy ways to improve your day, little as it may be. Happiness is so important in life, and sometimes it's one of the hardest things to find. A lot of people wish their day to day lives would be better and more enjoyable. And while little fixes like these won't automatically give you the ideal life you've always wanted, baby steps can sometimes lead to big changes.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
