One of my New Year's resolutions was to get even more active than I already am. Unfortunately, the need to stay in bed exceeded my ambitious fitness pursuits. This week, I decided to get back into the gym and raise my heart rate.
If any of you guys are having trouble getting re-active again—like your girl—take a gander at my list of exercise tips!
1. Take a jog
I can testify that running is not an easy thing to just up and do. Up until last year, I did not do that sort of athletic activity simply because it was hard to build up the physical momentum for it. One day, I just decided to go on a jog, and I actually liked it and continued to do it every other day! Now, I love to run and I always incorporate it in my daily exercise routine! According to Womens' Health Magazine, the best way to become a runner is to run or jog at least three days a week!
2. Bicycle
Whether you are bicycling in real life or in the gym, this activity is an easy way to pump up your heart rate! Personally, I bicycle in my school's activity center because I hate the outside, and I can multitask while doing it. I usually listen to my music, watch Netflix, or study for upcoming tests.
3. Participate in Zumba or any other group class
Group fitness classes are always great to participate in because you and your friends can sweat it out while hanging out! If you're in the ULM area, they have a great class every Monday and Wednesday that is sure to get you sweaty!
4. Shoot some hoops or hit up the racquetball room
I'm not much of a basketball player, but I can handle my own! But, if you one-on-one me in racquetball, I will destroy you! Playing these activities will get you active and take your mind of exercising, because it's not the traditional exercise activities!
5. Join an intramural team
If you are looking to get active, meet some new people, and make friends, join an intramural sports team. At my school, they offer flag football, soccer, tennis, and other sports that people love to participate in because it forces you get active! The benefits of participating in these type of activities are that it provides a great opportunity for those who don't have the time or abilities to compete in competitive university athletics. Plus, many people feel more motivated to exercise when they're playing in an organized program rather than following a personal fitness regimen. So, it's totally worth the hype.
I challenge you guys to try at least one of my mentioned activities, so we can all get healthy and fit together! Have a great week, and happy exercising!
