Everyone has those nights when they have to cram in a five-page paper. No matter how hard you try, it seems impossible not to pull at least one all-nighter in college. For the times where you still want to look cute on less than an hour of sleep, try these five makeup looks.

1. Colored Eyeliner

An easy way to add some color to your makeup routine.

How to: Start with an eyeshadow primer—it will keep your makeup from smudging as you go to your classes. Put a gold or light brown eyeshadow on your upper eyelid. Use a blue eyeliner along your bottom eyelid and waterline. Finally, put on your mascara to plump up your eyelashes (I always use Mega Plush Mascara because you can add a lot of coats without it clumping).

2. Bright Lips

Bright lips and long lashes are all you need.

How to: Find a brightly colored lipstick and wear it with any mascara for fun, simple look. If you have a few minutes to spare before heading to class, you could also put on a neutral colored eyeshadow.

3. Natural Smokey Eyes

A look that’s perfect for going to classes and going out afterward.

How to: Start with a primer and foundation—this will help keep your makeup in place throughout the whole day. Next, smudge brown eyeshadow on your top and bottom eyelids. Then, put on black eyeliner and mascara to finish.

4. Winged Eyeliner

Adele knows how to make her wings look flawless.

How to: Apply primer and foundation throughout your face. Find a waterproof liquid eyeliner (It will last longer than a pencil one). Draw a diagonal line from your lash line to the crease—this will help you create the perfect length for the wing. Then, draw another line across your lash line and connect it to the wing line. Finally, put on some mascara to make your lashes stand out if you have enough time.

5. Gold Eyes

Those shimmery eyelids will have you glowing all day.

How to: Choose a gold or bronze shimmery eyeshadow to put on. Apply the eyeshadow on your top eyelid and underneath your lower lashes. Add a few coats of mascara and a nude colored lipstick to complete the look.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
