Imagine you're sitting in a bar on new years eve. You claim that you're going to change your everyday life in the new year with new goals such as weight lost, reading more, etc, but as you sit there you continue to drink the same old drink that you've been drink for years. This year try some easy recipes like the ones below to spice up your drink in the new year.

Dizzy Sour

1.5 o of whiskey

,75 oz fresh egg white

.5 oz lemon juice

2 bar spoons Benedictine or yellow Charteuse or a pinch of Drambuie

.25 simple syrup

.5 dark Jamaican rum

1 handful of ice

1 skewered pineapple cube

Shake together everything but the rum, be sure to shake until the egg white breaks up completely. strain into a glass of ice and float the rum. to float the rum pour .5 oz dark rum over the back of a son onto the side of the glass. garnish with pineapple

Red Sangria

1/2 apple, skin on, cored, and chopped into little pieces

1/2 organic, rind on, sliced into small pieces

3-4 tbsp brown sugar

3/4 cup orange juice

1/3 cup brandy

750 ml dry Spanish red wine ice to chill

Add apples, organs, and brown sugar to a large pitcher and muddle with a wooden spoon. Add orange juice and brandy and muddle again. Add the red wine, stir to incorporate. Finally add the ice and garnish with orange segments. Leftovers can be stored for up to 48 hours

Highball

2 oz of liquor

2-4 oz of club soda

collins glass

use a tall glass that also has a narrow mouth and pour your liquor of choice in, and pour the club soda in over it

Tequila Sunrise

1.5 oz of tequila

3/4 cup orange juice

.75 oz grenadine syrup

orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

fill a highball glass with ice and pour the tequila and orange juice in, slowly pour the grenadine into the glass by using the spoon, garnish with orange slice and maraschino cherry

Hot Buttered Rum

2 cups water

1/2 stick unsalted butter

1/4 cup of dark brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/8 tsp salt

2/3 cup dark rum

Bring water, butter brown sugar cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, whisking occasionally for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in rum. Serve hot.
