Here's your solution to late night studying, random cravings and having limited ingredients and utensils at your disposal. Here are some mug food recipes with sweet and savory options to try. :)

1. 5-Minute Nutella Mug Brownie

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon (3 ¼ oz/90g) Nutella
  • 1 large egg, gently whisked
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour

Method:

  1. In a large microwavable mug, whisk the Nutella and egg together.
  2. Add the flour, then mix until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Microwave for roughly 45-60 seconds. Always keep a close eye on your mug while it's in the microwave so it doesn’t overflow or overcook.
  4. When the brownie is set and firm on top, and an inserted toothpick comes out clean, it is done cooking. Let the brownie cool a few minutes before serving.
  5. Optional: Serve with some vanilla ice cream while it’s still warm.

2. Mac 'n' Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup macaroni
  • 1/2 cup choice of shredded cheese

Method:

1. Add macaroni and water to your mug; the water level should be just above the macaroni, if not a little more. Add more water if necessary.
2. Microwave on high for eight minutes. At the two- and five-minute mark, stir the contents of the mug and add more water if necessary. Cook until the time is up, or until the pasta is al dente.
3. Add cheese to your mug, mixing with the small amount of water remaining at the bottom. If the cheese does not completely melt, pop it mug back in the microwave for another 30-60 seconds.

3. Omelette-in-a-Mug

  • cooking spray
  • 2 eggs
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon diced roasted red peppers
  • ¼ cup spinach
  • 1 tablespoon feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sliced green onions

Method:

  1. Spray the inside of your coffee mug with cooking spray.
  2. Add eggs to the cup, and use a fork to whisk until the yokes are combined.
  3. Add in your desired toppings: roasted red pepper, spinach, feta cheese, green onions, or pepper to taste.
  4. Gently stir together.
  5. Put the mug to the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  6. Remove and let sit for 1 minute.
  7. Devour

4. Savory Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet of instant oats
  • Choice of seasoning: garlic salt, chicken salt (chicken stock cubes), lemon pepper (or a bit of each!)

Method:

1. Combine all your ingredients together with enough water to cover the top of the oatmeal.
2. Heat for approximately one minute, until the oatmeal is cooked.
3. Add sriracha/hot sauce (and cheese) on top.
4. Enjoy!

5. Cookies 'n' Cream Cake

Ingredients:

  • 5 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 oreos

Method:

1. Mix all ingredients for the cake in an oversized mug except the oreos.
2. After the batter is smooth, crush the oreos into the batter with a metal spoon.
3. Cook for approximately 90 seconds in microwave.
4. Check on middle of cake by inserting a toothpick or knife. If it doesn't come out clean, cook for about 20 more seconds. Careful not to overcook your cake, or it may become rubbery.

*Microwave times may vary. It always helps to start from around 20 seconds and work your way up.*

ENJOY! :)

Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.
