As we approach Oct. 26, the birthday of Aubrey Drake Graham, aka "October's Very Own," one of the musical icons of our generation, we are taking the time to reflect on Drizzy's versatility and overall domination of the game. As a result of his greatness, Drake has song for your every mood.
1. "Best I Ever Had" (2009)
Mood: Sensual Nostalgia
The title speaks for itself, its not to be confused. This is a vintage Drake track right here. This is a song you throw on when you're reflecting on that one special evening, with that one special someone.
2. "Headlines" (2011)
Mood: Pregame Mindset
This is a pregame hype track at its finest. When you're sitting in the locker room, this track is sure to get the juices flowing. Also if you're just looking for an "overdose of confidence" and trying to "stop feeling the consequence," this songs for you.
3. "Hotline Bling" (2015)
Mood: When You're Missing The Ex
This is the 2 a.m. text to the ex vibe. This is an old-model Drake song, the pre-"If You're Reading This" Drake that scrolls through the numbers in his phone and texts them how they're "wearing less and going out more." Everyone catches this overly concerned mood once in awhile.
4. "Marvin's Room" (2011)
Mood: The Drunk Dial
Drake slips out of a packed club and calls The One Woman He Can't Have. This is the type of vibe when you see a relationship and think "I'm Just saying you can do better." No one moves as fluidly between pillow talk and a couch session as Drake.
5. "Just Hold On, We're Going Home" (2013)
Mood: Catchy Love Song/Good Vibes
“I want your hot love and emotion, endlessly” epitomize the very nature of the song. If anything, this is a very simple song with a very soft sentiment. This song is just all-around good vibes.
And while we come to my last song review, I would like to point out whether the "6 God" is rapping or singing, about relationships, money, wealth, and power, the man puts out heat. Happy early birthday, Drizzy—a toast to you for dominating the game.
