The Stress Management

Winter break is inching toward its end, and every college student is awaiting the arrival of the spring semester. While it will be exciting to see all of our friends again after so long, it will also be time to face the stress of constant overwhelming work. But, there are some awesome ways to keep stress at bay so you can get your work done and still feel good!

1. Yoga/Meditation

(Source)

While yoga may remind you of all the ways that you are not flexible, it has been proven to help reduce stress! Calm breathing and stretching will help to make you feel more relaxed and focused, which will help you when you're writing papers or studying!

2. Reading

(Source)

Now, I'm sure that the last thing most people will want to do this semester is read when they aren't required to, but hear me out. Reading something, whether it be a book or the wikipedia page for the Zodiac Killer, will help you to feel less overwhelmed. Also, it may help you in the long run!

3. Going to the gym

(Source)

I'm sure that you've heard this one million times, but going to the gym is really really good for your mental health! It really does release endorphins that help you to be more alert and focused. Additionally, it helps to make you happier! And during finals week, we could all use a little happiness.

4. Smile more!

(Source)

Since the 80's, psychologists have been working on the "Facial Feedback Hypothesis." This means that your brain actually pays attention to what your body is doing, and it affects your emotions. Because of this, if you smile, you can actually trick your brain into thinking you're happy, and become happier! It's a neat trick.

5. Sleep

(Source)

Sleep is necessary to help your brain solve problems and process the day you have just had. It is important for a person to have about 8-9 hours of sleep a night in order to give the brain enough time to prepare for the next day. Also, who doesn't love sleep? So go treat yourself to a nap!

Don't stress about the upcoming semester, everything will be just fine! Just keep some tricks in your back pocket for a rainy day, and go get 'em!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
