5 Cute Date Ideas That Won’t Break The Bank

So you've just spent a whopping 200 dollars on a shopping spree and now Jake from your chemistry class wants to take you out on a date to Pastabilities. He seems nice and all, but what's there to do when you only have two dollars left in your bank account? We've compiled a short list of cheap date ideas that won't break the bank and finally give you the opportunity to take out your new flame.

1. It's showtime.

Destiny USA might not seem like the ultimate first date spot, but movies at Regal Destiny USA Stadium 19 cost only 11 dollars and have recliner seats (so you can sneak in some cuddling). There's also student discounted ticket prices for certain movies at Schine Student Center if you're a Syracuse student. You can load up on snacks beforehand at a nearby supermarket so you don't have to waste money on movie theatre prices.

2. It's time to pig out with your boo.

Funk 'n Waffles is one of the many spots in Syracuse that has amazing food at a reasonable price. Even though some dishes are more expensive than others, you can either split the bill or split an appetizer at a cheaper cost. Downtown Syracuse has a ton of trendy places that you can take the bus to or drive down to. There is also the option of McDonald's, which really doesn't need an explanation as to why you would want to go there.

3. Physical activity isn't the worst thing.

Even though none of my friends are down to do anything that requires physical work, it might be fun to go do something that will get your heartbeat pumping! There are many trampoline parks, ice skating rinks, and roller skating rinks that offer student discounted prices with a student ID. And if too much physical activity really isn't your thing, Dave and Buster's is a great arcade that always ends up being a fun time.

4. Who said a nice picnic is overrated?

Although the weather in Syracuse is never really nice, there are two weeks in April where it's just bearable enough to do something romantic like a picnic. There are so many cute spots around campus or a little far away from campus that is perfect for a picnic. This idea is very inexpensive and could also be played up with decor like some nice lights and a blanket. If you're looking to spice it up, this definitely would be a good idea.

5. And if nothing works, take a small getaway to sightsee.

This would be a great idea if you or your significant other have a car. No matter where you go to school, you can enjoy a nice getaway for a day that doesn't have to require too much money. If you pack food beforehand and split gas money, you'll be set for the day. This could be a very creative idea and you can make it however you like (plus, also an opportunity for cute pictures).

Although it's rough being a college student who has about three dollars to their name, that doesn't mean your love life has to be a bore. You can still keep the romance alive while being broke, you just have to find a way to make it work. Go out on that date with that cute kid in your English class. Who knows, it might be worth every penny.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
