5 Date Ideas For You To Try

As college students, we all want to go out and have fun but don't necessarily have the money to casually spend. If you have been fortunate to experience a relationship during college, you will understand that taking exciting dates without spending money can be extremely difficult. Personally I have felt this difficulty, and in a relationship, it is important to try new things as well as keep it interesting. Don't just go out to dinner on the same night every single week for your date night -- switch it up. Be bold, try something new, and have some fun. These 5 intriguing adventures are sure to make some fun memories.

1. Stargazing

Stargazing, it is a very simple and relaxing way to spend time with your significant other. There is no cost involved, and not to mention that it's obviously romantic as hell. Just imagine, the two of you sitting on a blanket, or in a hammock, cuddling because of course the breeze is freezing and you keep each other cozy. As your looking at the stars, you start to look at each other, and the perfect romantic kiss begins. What could be more perfect?

2. Picnic in the Park

Now this may seem kind of basic, and well something that easily comes to mind. However, nowadays no one just appreciates a simple picnic! The point is, that you should! It's a cute idea and picking up some delicious snacks is fairly inexpensive. Getting to enjoy nature and being together is also a bonus. If you go to a park with a playground or basketball courts, that could always be fun too! There are endless possibilities just by going to a park, so make the best of it with a picnic!

3. Ice Skating

Depending on what state you live in, ice skating might not be a plausible option. If you're from the Midwest, such as Minnesota, then this is possible about 80 percent of the year. If you're from Arizona, the desert state, this can be a possibility with indoor rinks. Either way, you still get the experience of either making a fool of yourself to each other or impressing them. Win-win for everyone!

4. Make a Themed Dinner

This idea I found on an article by the Huffington Post. The article proposes the idea of having dinner in a unique way! First, you pick a theme like Italian or Asian. Then you go to the store and buy all of the ingredients that are needed. Make the dish you chose and decorate both the house and yourselves accordingly to make it a theme night. Your date will be filled with creativity and fun.

5. Movie Marathon Day

Now this is probably one of the best ones that you could do! It is spending time, relaxing, and not giving any cares to the world. You are just with each other, in bed all day, and watching movies. Now, what can be better than that?

Either way, these are affordable ways to have fun while also being able to try new things. You can go from staying up all night watching the stars to a scary movie marathon. Regardless, it'll be something new and interesting for you and your date to spend your time.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
