5 Cozy Fall Ideas

As William Cullen Bryant once said, "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile."

It's Fall, and that means the leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping, and the population of girls in cardigans and combat boots is rising once more. There are many cozy things to do in the fall time before the snow hits and the Holidays begin.

1. Read a book

This may seem redundant, and frankly impossible sometimes as a college student, but finding the right book to fit that fall time feeling just reiterates the coziness and warmth that is fall.

2. Movie marathon

So Halloween movie marathons may be over, but it is still socially acceptable to watch movies! Rent a cozy light-hearted comedy and curl up with your hot cocoa. I promise you won't regret it.

3. Drink Tea/Coffee

Hot drinks are essential during this time of year. The weather gets colder, and the drinks get hotter, what a beautiful time to be alive.

4. Bake something!

'Tis the season of baking and Pinterest treats that are just itching to be tried out! Try creating your own mug cake, or maybe that yummy peppermint hot chocolate DIY everyone always talks about!

5. Go on a hike/walk

Take in nature. There's something beautiful about enjoying nature without sweating profusely. Take in the colors, the sounds, and the sights, because before you know it it will be a blanket of snow.

Fall is a beautiful time, so take it in with all its beauty and do something today that makes you happy. As William Cullen Bryant once said, "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile."

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
