It seems to me that many Christians today have a very stiff, rigid approach to Jesus. We tend to present Him in a sort of boring way, and I think this may cause people outside the church to shy away and some Christians to lose interest over time. Besides this, though, I think our approach to Jesus is actually pretty inaccurate. We want to be able to relate to Jesus. We want to know that He knows what we're going through. So why would God send us a boring savior? Right, there's no way God would do that. He wants to have a relationship with Him. I'm going to talk about the five coolest things about Jesus, and hopefully show why viewing Him as boring is wrong.

5. Jesus was a master wood-worker

Besides being the Prince of Peace, Jesus was a real man's man. He grew up in the town of Nazareth, which was a sort of rural area. His earthly father Joseph was a carpenter who brought Jesus up in the trade. They were probably was probably the go-to guys for people that needed a nice desk or a new magazine rack. Sure, maybe He had the well-conditioned, flowing hair we see in the movies. But my guess is He had some pretty nice shoulders and forearms from sanding boards.

4. He would be the best fishing buddy ever

There's no way a fishing trip to the lake with Jesus would ever be boring. He didn't even have to touch the net to catch a ton of fish. John 21:6 gives a great example. His disciples were out on the sea one day trying to pull in a nice catch, but they were getting NOTHING. So Jesus climbed aboard and told them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat. Then suddenly, they had too many fish to fit on the boat. Matthew 17:24-27 says that Jesus even told His disciple Peter to cast a line and that the first fish would have a coin in its mouth to cover the temple tax. I'd say that's pretty neat.

3. Jesus was the greatest conversationalist ever

Jesus was quite the smooth operator. He had crowds of thousands around Him all the time, and every one of those people waited on bated breath for every word He spoke. He was a revolutionary and a jokester. He could tie a Pharisee in knots or encourage a widow. Jesus never bored anyone He met.

So, how great of a conversationalist was Jesus? We can still talk to Him, even today.

2. He healed the sick and raised the dead

Now we're getting into the divine half of Jesus. Besides being the world's most interesting man while He was on Earth, Jesus was basically the best doctor in history. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. You've probably read at least a couple of the stories in the Bible, and they're all incredible. But those only scratch the surface of the miracles Jesus performed. In fact, John 21:25 says that if all the miracles Jesus performed were written down, the whole world would not have enough books to record them.

1. HE BEAT DEATH AND SIN

You had to know this would be at the top of the list. Jesus completely changed the world when He died on the cross and three days later shimmied out of the tomb. If Jesus had just been some poor carpenter from Nazareth, dying on the cross and rising again three days later wouldn't have changed anything. But Jesus was WAY more than just some average Joe. Jesus lived in our world and faced the same temptations we face. However, Jesus handled these situations a lot better than any of us. He lived completely free of sin and He really gave the devil the business. He showed that evil no longer has a grasp on us. He encourages us, keeps us company and gives us a way to heaven.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
