Television is one of America's favorite forms of entertainment, and there is no shortage of television shows today designed to entertain. No television show, though, would be what it is without its precursors. Classic television set the bar high, and five of those classics are definitely a must-see for today's viewers.
1. "I Love Lucy"
"I Love Lucy" is a product of the 1950s, and it revolves around the Ricardos and Mertzes, two families who live in the same apartment building in the heart of New York City. Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz are the two troublemakers of the show, and they often end up in hilarious scrapes that will leave viewers laughing long after the ending credits have rolled.
2. "The Andy Griffith Show"
Airing in the 1960s, "The Andy Griffith Show" is set in Mayberry, North Carolina, a small town protected by Andy Taylor and Barney Fife, the sheriff and deputy, respectively. The show teaches viewers important life lessons and emphasizes the importance of family and friends.
3. "Leave It to Beaver"
"Leave It to Beaver" focuses on the Cleaver family: Ward, June, Wally, and Theodore, affectionately known as "Beaver." From the late 1950s and onward, the Cleaver family became America's model family, and the lessons taught on the show are unforgettable.
4. "The Waltons"
"The Waltons" depicts both the joys and hardships of a close-knit family during the Great Depression and World War II living in rural Virginia. "The Waltons" is a personal favorite of mine, and, once viewed, is a show that will never be forgotten.
5. "The Brady Bunch"
These classic television shows are full of humor and family values, and they should continue to be enjoyed by everyone.
